1) Mrs Hyson has a total of 85 cents. What coins does Mrs Hyson have to make her total? Is there more than one correct answer possible? Can you suggest any more?

2) Place the digits 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 in these circles so that the sums across and vertically are the same. Describe the strategy you used to find your solution.




Literacy Activity: Assessment Words
This week your class will be using these words in any of your lessons. Create your own question for each of the following words and ask a member of your family to answer it. Write the question in your homework book.
1) locate
2) diagram

Make this paragraph better by using a variety of sentences. Remember we have been learning about 3 types: Simple, compound, complex.

School is an amazing place. Lots of learning, lots of fun happens at school. When I am at school. I enjoy learning about Mathematics. Some of my friends don't. Lunch time is fun cos I hangout with my friends we play basketball and sometimes we play on the oval. I even let me brother play games with us * sometimes I don't want to.

Science: Desert Survivors

Watch the video below about a leaf's stomata. Answer the questions below. (HINT: Pay close attention to the diagram.) 



1) A plant's leaves have openings called stomata. What do they let in and out?

2) Guard cells have an important job to do as they stop the plant from losing too much water. Describe how they work in your own words.

3) What does hydrated mean?

4) Go outside and pick 3 leaves off three different plants or trees. Look at the top and bottom of each leaf. Which side do you think has more stomata? Explain why.
